Ensuring your Pups Wellbeing in Winter
Besides death and taxes, a dog is one of the only things you can always count on. They don’t really complain unless its dinnertime or they have to go out, and they will definitely never nag you to take them shopping. Dogs have cheered up families for hundreds of years and will continue to do so for many years to come. In the winter however, it is especially important to remember their needs in the harsh weather conditions.
Here are a few helpful tips to give your “best friend” a better life:
- When the temperature drops to single digits or less it is time to bring your pooch in out of the cold, these low temperatures can be fatal to dogs.
- If the dog sleeps outside in a dog house, use straw or hay to line it’s bed not bedding, this will help raise your dogs body temperature.
- Also before the first freeze of the winter, bring your dog to the veterinarian for a checkup because most illnesses can worsen in the cold weather.
- Also make sure your dog is fenced in, or well contained because injuries, such as being hit by a car can be worse due to the tight tendons from the cold.
Also in order to protect yourself from any liability associated with any trouble that Fido might get into, it’s important to make sure that your MA Homeowner’s Insurance and even your MA Umbrella Insurance are properly covering you.
