New Massachusetts Privacy Restrictions

Some businesses are privy to very important information about their customers, and obviously, would not want any of that information to fall into the wrong hands. With all the new technology that has arisen within the last decade or so, it has become inevitable that there needs to be a way to keep this information secure. This is why Massachusetts has recently passed a new law called the Massachusetts Data-Security Law. Essentially, this law requires all businesses to protect sensitive information. This is particularly aimed at information stored on laptops and other external storage devices. It also includes information that is transmitted on wireless or public networks.

Every company that this affects will have to have prove that they are in compliance with this new law should they ever need to.  In a world with rampant identity theft, requiring the protection of sensitive personal information seems like the smart thing to do. This will be affecting everyone from doctor’s offices to your local insurance agency like Encharter Insurance. If you have any questions about how Encharter will be handling this new law, please do not hesitate to contact one of our knowledgeable agents.
